Simple hacks to keep your car smelling good

A personal car acts like a second home for people who travel and commute from home to work and vice versa. Keeping your car smelling fresh does require some input and some job done on it just as you would your house. Here are a few hacks to help you keep your car smelling fresh.

Clean your car’s air vents

Air vents collect and accumulate dirt and gears that might be in the car, which in turn might emit a foul smell—cleaning the air vents inside the vehicle using cotton swabs often to avoid the build-up of dust and other particles. Check the cabin air filter and keep changing it with time to maintain the car’s air clean and fresh smelling. It is essential to drain the A/C overflow by squeezing the tube to the drain to avoid the accumulation of dust.

Use fabric fresheners

You can use dry fabric fresheners at the air conditioning vents for the car to keep your car smelling fresh. You can also put a box of dry sheets that has small holes under your car seat, which will make your car smell fresh for longer compared to car fresheners. Instead of buying car fresheners, you can alternatively use fabric fresheners put in a small can with small holes at the top.

Another home-based remedy is placing coffee beans in an open container in the car as it sucks in all the bad air. Putting a drop of two of essential oil on a ball of cotton wool will not only keep your car smelling nice but will also offer some time of aromatherapy as you go about your drive. Essential oils can be put in a spray bottle mixed with water you use to spray in your car, and the smell will last for a long time.

Baking soda

Baking soda is an incredible hack to keep your house clean and smelling nice, and it also does so for cars. Sprinkle a bit of baking soda on car seats, leave it for a few hours and then vacuum. Baking soda is known for its property of dry-cleaning fabrics and, therefore, will keep your car seat dust free and car smell fresh for a long time.

Get car odour eliminator

If you are not a fan of doing it yourself (DIY)hacks, then getting a car odor eliminator would be ideal. There are many stores online that sell specific odour eliminators at affordable prices.

Cleaning

Above all hacks, cleaning tops all of them. Get a detailed cleaning of your entire car if you can get a vacuum cleaner with a hose to reach the parts of the vehicle that are interior. If you cannot do it by yourself, then there is no need to worry because most local car washes offer a deep wash service. Remove the mats and scrub them as well as clean the vents. Windows and cup pockets are also essential parts of a car that need deep cleaning. The last bit would be to put in an air freshener to keep your car smelling fresh.
